Job Summary

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for achieving set targets in Net Sales and Incremental EBIT within your assigned DKSH markets. You will play a pivotal role in driving business growth by identifying, researching, evaluating, and pursuing new business development opportunities. Your focus will be on expanding the company’s portfolio and profitability, aligning with both short-term objectives and long-term strategic goals.

 

In addition to your core responsibilities, you will be required to step in and provide business development support to other markets when vacancies arise, ensuring continuity and maintaining growth momentum. This includes cultivating partnerships, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful market entry and expansion across different regions as needed.

General Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include monitoring market trends, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and executing business strategies to deliver measurable results that contribute to the organization’s success. Flexibility and adaptability to work across different markets will be essential to meet business demands.

 

•    Proactively identify and acquire new high-potential clients for the market(s) of responsibilities. 
•    Assess/screen new business opportunities by conducting feasibility studies through desk research and market/store survey.
•    Collaborate closely with Market Leaders and other key local stakeholders (Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Legal etc.) to build up business proposals for new business development leads.
•    Negotiate and finalize the Local Distribution Agreement with clients in favor of DKSH or against DKSH Contract Manual. 
•    Prepare monthly reports and adhoc analysis for reporting to Senior Leadership Team.
•    Respond to queries from potential clients in supporting business interactions.
•    Conduct research/feasibility studies/market scan (including visiting exhibitions/fairs) to gain better understanding of the latest market opportunities/trends.
•    Formulate the market‘s business development strategy and set annual targets.
•    Ensure business development projects and pipeline are up-to-date in Salesforce.com.    
•    Support the execution of any new improvement initiatives for business development processes and ways of working to drive effectiveness and minimize redundancy.

 

Functional Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum five years of experience in FMCG industry, especially in sales, marketing, business development related role preferred.
  • Regional experience, particularly within Asia, is an added advantage.
  • Management consulting or marketing research experience is an added advantage.
  • Exposure to managing or understanding Profit and Loss statement is an added advantage
  • Strong stakeholders’ management skill (external and/or internal) is expected
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, analytical/critical thinking and agility to handle complexities and multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills 
  • Proven proficiencies in Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Exposure and experience with Euromonitor, SAP and Salesforce.com would be an added advantage
  • Drive and lead new business development projects with clear directions and manage discussions/negotiations for successful acquisition of new clients into DKSH portfolio. 
  • Drive self-learning and development in the area of business development and DKSH behavior to achieve team/function goals (where applicable).
  • Fluency in English is a must, other Asian languages (e.g., Chinese, Cantonese) is an added advantage due to geographic work scope in North Asia.
  • Demonstrate appreciation and respect for cultural sensitivities especially in cross-country/-cultural interactions
     


 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies/Marketing
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing would be an advantage
