Job Summary
Lead and drive sourcing strategy/plans, identification of business requirements, supplier qualification, Potential suppliers finding and supplier contracts finalization to ensure sourcing of suppliers that can meet business needs.
General Responsibilities
- Develop the sourcing framework/strategy and drive sourcing plans that will result in cost savings/greater efficiencies/economies of scale/higher quality products
- Provide strategic direction in managing the existing portfolio of suppliers based on business priorities. Creatively renegotiate contracts to garner better cost savings/greater economies of scale
- Oversee the general market research for potential suppliers and preliminary supplier analysis in line with the requirements for regulated markets (e.g. EMEA, Japan, SESA, etc.)
- Anticipate future business requirements/needs based on a deep understanding of internal stakeholders' long-term business priorities
- Provide direction on the overall supplier evaluation and qualification process, evaluate and shortlist suppliers according to specific standards (e.g. ISO), manufacturing practices and ethical business practices
- Lead communication of sourcing results and decisions to management, highlighting strategic supplier relationships that can be established as a result
- Lead strategic negotiations with key potential suppliers to facilitate the determination of best pricing, payment terms, etc.
- Lead key conversations and coordination between suppliers and sales countries on claim resolutions. Support Quality Assurance, Legal and Management in anticipating and providing solutions to potential liabilities and financial exposure
- Advise on alternative sourcing approaches and communicate sourcing plans/progress to internal stakeholders as part of stakeholder management
- Build strategic relationships with key potential suppliers related to product areas relevant to the business
- Market trends monitor for related product areas and relevant business.
Functional Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of the business and industry
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in sourcing/contract management/vendor management
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge in quality standards (e.g. ISO), manufacturing best practices (e.g. good manufacturing practices according to WHO, EU, etc.) and safety, health and environmental (SHE) requirements (e.g. dangerous goods regulations and classifications, etc.)
- Demonstrate advanced research and analytical skills
- Demonstrate fluency in English (both written and spoken)
- Demonstrate appreciation and respect for cultural sensitivities especially in international/cross-cultural interactions
- Demonstrate proficiencies in office productivity tools (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Education
Degree or professional qualification in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy or related field
