About the Role

As Director, Country Human Resources for Malaysia and Brunei, you will serve as a strategic partner to the Country Leadership Team, shaping the people agenda that enables sustainable business growth and long-term competitiveness. This role drives workforce strategy, organizational design, leadership capability, and culture across a large and complex organization, with direct impact on DKSH's ability to scale and succeed in the market.

What you will deliver

  • Define and lead the country people strategy, aligning workforce planning, organizational capabilities, and culture to deliver on 3–5 year business growth ambitions
  • Drive organizational design and operating model transformation to enhance scalability, productivity, and cost efficiency
  • Build a robust leadership pipeline through targeted succession planning and leadership development for critical roles
  • Partner with country and regional leadership to embed a high-performance, future-ready organizational culture
  • Act as a trusted advisor to country leadership on organizational structure, talent strategy, and workforce effectiveness
  • Lead strategic workforce planning, including support for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), demand forecasting, capability gap analysis, and talent deployment
  • Apply workforce analytics to drive data-informed decisions on productivity, hiring, and retention
  • Own the end-to-end talent agenda, including the attraction, development, engagement, and retention of critical talent
  • Oversee compensation and benefits strategy, ensuring market competitiveness and alignment with group frameworks
  • Design and drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement, performance, and overall employee experience
  • Lead large-scale transformation and change management initiatives, ensuring organizational readiness, adoption, and sustainability across the country
  • Guide leadership teams through operating model shifts and business evolution while shaping a culture aligned to business priorities
  • Ensure full compliance with local labour laws and industrial relations frameworks in Malaysia
  • Oversee HR operations, budgets, and service delivery to ensure efficiency, scalability, and sound governance
  • Lead HR due diligence and people integration strategies for M&A and organizational restructuring activities
  • Drive the deployment of global HR systems, policies, and processes across the country
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing HR team, building succession readiness and leadership continuity within the HR function
  • Administrative duties and coordination tasks as required

What you bring

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related discipline
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Human Resources, of which at least five years are in a managerial capacity
  • Experience working in multinational corporations (MNCs) and highly matrixed organizations; exposure to Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), pharmaceutical, and supply chain industries is preferred
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing HR strategies and plans that achieve measurable business outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience managing large workforces, leading organizational transformation, and driving productivity improvement
  • Strong business acumen with working knowledge of financial metrics including Profit and Loss (P&L) and Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT), and the ability to translate business needs into effective HR solutions
  • Deep expertise in organizational development, particularly in contexts involving business expansion, M&As, and organizational restructuring
  • Strong knowledge of employment law in Malaysia
  • Ability to apply high-level conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills to complex workforce challenges and propose innovative, results-driven solutions
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities concurrently
  • Skilled in managing diverse stakeholder expectations across HR and business unit leadership
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, with the willingness to engage in the details and guide the team
  • Sound conflict resolution and influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience in HR digitalization is an advantage
  • Agile, open-minded, and people-focused, with empathy and a genuine commitment to developing high-performing, values-driven teams
