About the Role
The Assistant Manager, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) is responsible for overseeing workplace safety, health, and environmental compliance across DKSH's supply chain, warehouse, manufacturing, and office operations in Malaysia. This role drives a culture of continuous safety improvement while ensuring full regulatory adherence to protect employees, contractors, and visitors in alignment with DKSH's commitment to safe and sustainable operations.
What You Will Deliver
- Implement and monitor workplace safety, health, and environmental programs in line with regulatory requirements, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), the Department of Environment (DOE), and other relevant authorities
- Conduct regular risk assessments, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) reviews, and site inspections to proactively identify and eliminate safety and environmental risks
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action plans to drive accountability and prevent recurrence across all business units
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, evacuation drills, and first-aid readiness programs to ensure organizational preparedness at all times
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and movement of goods within warehouse operations, including oversight of forklift operations, traffic management, ergonomics, and contractor safety through permit-to-work systems
- Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing awareness campaigns to educate and engage employees on safety, health, and environmental practices, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage and safe work procedures
- Prepare monthly HSE reports, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards, and audit-readiness documentation aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, and liaise with government agencies and auditors during inspections and regulatory submissions
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation for regulatory compliance, certifications, and incident closure, maintaining comprehensive records across all HSE activities
- Drive continuous improvement in warehouse safety and environmental sustainability, leveraging digital tools such as QR code reporting and online forms for incident and near-miss tracking
- Build and maintain productive relationships with government agencies and regulatory bodies on all matters relating to safety, health, and environment
- Administrative duties and coordination tasks as required
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Technology, Occupational Safety, or a related field
- Certified Green Book Holder (Malaysia) or an equivalent recognized safety certification
- Certified in Environmental and Pollution Prevention and Scheduled and Solid Waste Management (CEPSAWM)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar HSE role, preferably within warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics operations
- Strong knowledge of local regulatory requirements and international standards including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and OSHA
- Good knowledge of dangerous goods regulations, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), the Global Harmonized System (GHS), and Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulations
- Proven knowledge of transport safety and dangerous goods management
- Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with the ability to train and engage a diverse workforce effectively
- Proficiency in office productivity tools including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to balance firm safety enforcement with empathetic and effective leadership
