Job Summary
The Regional Medical Operations & Excellence Lead based in Singapore plays a critical role in enabling and optimizing the execution of medical strategies across the region, with a strong focus on patient-centricity, operational efficiency, and stakeholder value. This role is responsible for building medical capabilities, driving digital transformation, enhancing cross-functional collaboration, and embedding insight-driven approaches that maximize scientific and strategic impact. Ultimately, the position ensures better patient outcomes and a stronger partner experience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Enablement
- Partner with regional and country medical leaders to ensure effective execution of medical strategies.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable operational plans adapted to diverse healthcare environments.
Medical Capabilities & Training
- Assess core capability needs and design structured training programs for field and office-based medical teams.
- Develop training that encompasses technical expertise, patient pathways, healthcare system dynamics, and burden of disease.
- Lead rollout of digital and blended learning solutions; foster knowledge exchange and best-practice sharing across markets.
Digital Education Strategy
- Drive the design and execution of a comprehensive digital medical education strategy for internal (e.g., MSLs) and external (e.g., HCPs) stakeholders.
- Oversee digital platforms and content development, ensuring initiatives enable clinicians to make better-informed decisions.
Operations & Governance
- Ensure operational excellence through SOPs, KPIs, budget management, and efficient workflows.
- Implement compliant processes that free up medical teams for value-added patient and HCP activities.
- Maintain alignment with legal, compliance, and regulatory partners.
Systems & Digital Tools
- Champion the use and optimization of medical CRM systems, insight management tools, and digital enablement platforms.
- Drive adoption and continuous improvement of digital tools to enable data-driven decisions and strategic agility.
Insight & Engagement Excellence
- Build robust frameworks for insight capture, analysis, and strategy refinement.
- Equip medical teams with tools that enhance KOL engagement and scientific impact.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Act as a strategic bridge between medical affairs, commercial, compliance, regulatory, and market access functions.
- Support integrated planning processes that align medical and commercial objectives while ensuring compliance.
Continuous Improvement
- Establish mechanisms to benchmark and track medical performance across the region.
- Identify opportunities for innovation in processes, systems, and structures.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, curiosity, and scientific excellence.
Functional Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of medical affairs strategy, scientific engagement, and compliance standards.
- Proven experience implementing digital tools and driving field medical excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to translate insights into patient- and HCP-focused strategies.
- Expertise in capability building, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Data-driven mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Education & Experience
- Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in medical affairs or medical operations within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
- Regional or cross-country experience in a matrix organization strongly preferred.
