About The Role

As Regional Director, Business Development, you will lead new business acquisition for DKSH's Healthcare Commercial Outsourcing segment, driving growth across key therapeutic areas and pharmaceutical client segments. Based in Singapore with a global scope, this role defines and executes Business Development strategy across the full pipeline lifecycle, from lead discovery and validation through to negotiation and closing, while serving as a strategic partner to regional functions and country organizations.

What You Will Deliver

  • Define the Business Development (BD) portfolio strategy for selective Therapeutic Areas (TAs), with a special focus on cardiovascular, metabolism including diabetes and obesity, respiratory, and renal diseases
  • In close collaboration with Medical Affairs and Customer Insights and Analytics, identify a priority list of BD target companies and products to build a focused and high-value pipeline
  • Define a Therapeutic Area BD strategic roadmap and an annual priority list of potential leads through new lead generation, upselling, cross-fertilization across markets, and switching from competitors
  • Develop BD portfolio Healthcare strategies to build and sustain a rich and healthy BD pipeline applicable across all markets where DKSH operates
  • Proactively support markets in lead discovery and validation, sharing insights and enabling informed and timely decision-making
  • Develop and articulate a compelling DKSH value proposition with an outside-in perspective, powered by insights and data, with a go-to-market model tailored to client business needs
  • Provide key account management to a defined client base, ensuring confidence in DKSH's commitment to their products and long-term growth objectives
  • Attend key industry networking events and lead the BD team to strengthen client relationships and reinforce DKSH's presence in the market
  • Establish budgets, monitor performance, and lead the operations planning process, including the setting of targets and measures
  • Evaluate operational costs and overheads to ensure maximum efficiency and profitability
  • Communicate the vision and objectives for the global Business Unit and implement regional plans that support local operational performance improvement
  • Work with DKSH country organizations to develop and implement local BD strategies for current and new clients, conducting regular reviews to track strategy execution and close performance gaps
  • Lead and coordinate BD initiatives to negotiate multi-country contracts and deliver commercial value at scale
  • Lead BD 2.0 projects and workstreams to drive operational excellence, strategy implementation, and capability building across the organization
  • Act as a Key Account Management function for strategic clients and priority targets, in coordination with BD and other functions
  • Select and appoint direct reports, establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and conduct regular and structured performance assessments
  • Coach and lead team members, contributing to a high-performing, empowered, and collaborative working environment through agile ways of working, clear role expectations, timely feedback, and monitoring of key indicators
  • Role model DKSH values and behaviors, fostering a culture of high performance, entrepreneurship, curiosity, agility, accountability, respect, integrity, and collaboration
  • Administrative duties and coordination tasks as required

What You Bring

  • Relevant University Degree and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA); a science background is recommended
  • 15 or more years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Proven performance track record with more than 5 years as a commercial senior manager in a country such as Business Unit Head (BUH) or General Manager (GM), or in a regional leadership role such as Regional Commercial Director, within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Relevant managerial experience in at least 2 of the following Therapeutic Areas: cardiovascular, metabolism including diabetes and obesity, respiratory, and renal
  • Proven ability in marketing and commercial operations in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably across different product life cycle stages including launches, key growth drivers, and established medicines
  • High results agility with a proven ability to define and execute plans that achieve outstanding and sustained performance in a collaborative manner
  • Proven sales leader with strong communication, effective listening, and influencing skills, adaptable to different stakeholder levels and situational demands
  • Ability to think strategically, simplify complexity, and articulate compelling value propositions with clarity for senior stakeholder audiences
  • Deep understanding of selected Therapeutic Areas and their respective market and competitive landscapes, clinical guidelines, and future pipeline
  • Sound understanding of the Healthcare ecosystem across different market archetypes, with the ability to interpret key policy trends and their implications for clients
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to develop business cases and evaluate options effectively during negotiation
  • Advanced people skills with the ability to adapt leadership style and apply different influencing approaches to achieve win-win outcomes
  • Proven ability to build strong, mutually beneficial, and authentic relationships with clients and customers to deliver growth and satisfaction
  • Ability to manage globally and culturally diverse teams, lead through ambiguity, and champion initiatives that strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Committed to developing the next generation of leaders and cultivating a strong network of prospective talent
  • Nice to have: proficiency in an Asian language; experience in BD or managing commercial or distributor business; experience constructing licensing agreements for products and brands; strong network in relevant Therapeutic Areas across key markets
