Job Summary

We are looking for a Tax Manager who will be a key pillar in the Finance Leadership Team, responsible for the entire AU group’s tax and treasury functions – spanning 4 divisions. This role focuses on tax accounting and compliance, M&A assistance and a good understanding general financial accounting. The scope of the role covers all taxes (direct and indirect) and associated regulatory / legislative requirements of the Group. This role will support treasury operations in relation to cash flow management, management of loans and payments to the extent possible. 

 

The role is a contract role for a fixed period of 8 months and requires a leader who is able to lead a team, multi-task, able to take ownership, is a reliable expert capable of driving projects. This role will be supported by a tax analyst and a treasury analyst (provided the individual takes on the treasury profile).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the preparation of income tax returns for Australian group;
  • Managing the indirect taxes (FBT, payroll tax, GST) calculations and submissions;
  • Monthly and annual tax calculations and associated accounting entries (incl deferred taxes), especially during hard close (books closing);
  • Collaborate with external auditors and assist with tax disclosures in financial statements;
  • Management of routine and ad-hoc request from Group Tax team and other key stakeholders;
  • Proactively managing on-going projects to streamline/improve processes across the tax and tax related function such as finance and payroll functions;
  • Involvement in Financial/Tax due diligence on any M&A targets as well as leading the integration of new businesses into the finance team;
  • Provide advisory services related to tax queries and in this regard, being up-to-date on changes to regulations (eg. thin capitalisation, debt deduction creation rules, BEPS Pillar 2etc.), industry trends and best practices;
  • Effectively communicate financial information to internal and external stakeholders, including executives, board members, and investors.
  • Manage the cashflow forecasting and management process at group level and BU level
  • Manage and optimise internal and external loans and facilities
  • Manage forex exposure through optimised hedging strategies across the group, including review of placement of hedges by BPO and variance analysis
  • Working with the global treasury team on clearing queries, collaborating on M&A transactions, providing updates

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Financial, Business, Economics or Accounting
  • 7+ years Tax specific experience within a large corporate or 1st/2nd tier accounting firm
  • Professional qualification CA/CPA/CTA
  • Tax technical awareness of recent legislative changes
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles particularly tax effect accounting and tax accruals
  • Proficiency in Advance Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power Pivot
  • Commercial awareness - understand the connections between tax and business is very important for this role
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and results focused with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience in SAP is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Treasury experience is desired
