Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager, Technical Sales (Raw Materials ingredients) will play a key leadership role in driving sales and business development for raw materials and ingredients within the Food & Beverage Industry. This position involves managing and expanding customer relationships, providing technical expertise, and developing strategic sales initiatives to achieve business growth. The role requires a strong understanding of ingredient functionality, market trends, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the AGM will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor sales professionals, and contribute to overall business strategy to enhance market presence and revenue generation.
General Responsibilities
Clients – 50% Weightage
- Drive substantial growth in business with existing clients.
- Co-develop and implement five-year go-to-market strategies for key clients across the customer base.
- Oversee client management, including pricing, forecasting, stock management, project execution, customer visits, technical training, customer trials, and overall business expansion.
- Lead the onboarding of new clients, particularly for technical products such as emulsifiers, stabilizers, and enzymes.
Business Development (BD) – 25% Weightage
- Strengthen the opportunity pipeline by successfully converting projects into sales in collaboration with the sales team and Business Line Manager (BLM).
- Drive business development initiatives across various industry clusters in India, aligned with the FBI product portfolio.
- Lead the acquisition of new suppliers in coordination with the BLM and sales team.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to understand customer needs, competition, and emerging trends.
- Collaborate with colleagues across FBI to guide the positioning of both existing and newly introduced products.
- Ensure business development targets are met across all FBI business lines.
- Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the Local Business Line Manager (FBI) based on industry clusters, product groups, or regional expansion.
- Maintain strong relationships with new suppliers while supporting colleagues with supplier insights and coordination.
- Organize and facilitate supplier visits.
- Provide support for existing sales activities as needed, in collaboration with sales executives or the BLM.
Key Account Management (KAM) – 25% Weightage
- Manage business operations for key accounts, with a primary focus on the bakery segment across India.
- Drive sales growth, optimize OPL, and achieve year-over-year sales targets.
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and strategic sales planning.
- Organize and lead Innovation Days to drive product engagement and market expansion.
Functional Skills and Knowledge
1. Business Development & Sales Management
- Identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities in food ingredients and raw materials.
- Developing and executing go-to-market strategies for different product lines.
- Expanding client portfolios and onboarding new customers.
2. Key Account Management (KAM)
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and new clients.
- Managing large key accounts, especially in specialized food sectors (e.g., bakery, dairy, beverages).
- Negotiating and securing long-term contracts with customers and suppliers.
3. Technical Expertise in Food Ingredients
- Strong understanding of functional food ingredients like emulsifiers, stabilizers, enzymes, proteins, and hydrocolloids.
- Knowledge of food processing technologies and their application in different industries.
- Ability to co-develop solutions with R&D teams and customers.
- Supporting customer trials and product commercialization.
4. Supply Chain & Procurement
- Managing supplier relationships and ensuring a reliable supply chain.
- Coordinating inventory planning, demand forecasting, and stock management.
5. Market & Competitive Intelligence
- Conducting market research to identify new business opportunities.
- Understanding customer needs, trends, and competitor strategies.
Education
Education : B Tech (Food Technologist) / M. Tech (Food Technologist), MBA would be added advantage
Work Experience : 12 -15 years
