Job Summary

The General Manager, Technology – Vietnam will lead and drive the country-level business strategy for the Technology business unit. This role is accountable for achieving technical sales targets, delivering sustainable growth, managing P&L responsibilities, and building a high-performing, customer-centric team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding market presence, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring operational and financial excellence.

  • Formulate and execute implementation of business strategies and plans to achieve technical sales targets for overall business objectives
  • Accountability for overall P&L as well as resource planning and managing operating budgets and costs (accountable for net sales/EBIT/headcount responsibility)
  • Identify talents in organization, define and support personal development plan, and create succession plans of mission critical roles

General Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage operating budgets and costs according to annual allocation to ensure efficient usage of resources
  • Provide business direction by formulating technical sales strategies and overseeing the development and implementation of short and long-term plans to achieve business targets for the country/region
  • Formulate key performance indicators and ensure tracking mechanisms are in place to support the achievement of team key performance indicators
  • Drive business related to key clients/customers. Introduce new/improved strategies and plans based on anticipated changing markets and trends
  • Oversee pricing, discounts and contract negotiations with key clients/customers to facilitate distribution/business agreements and achieve targeted margins
  • Strategize customer base expansion based on the effectiveness of sales strategies/plans
  • Systematically develop a customer base to penetrate the key new customer market
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement on sales processes, sales plans, customer satisfaction, etc., to improve sales targets
  • Develop and build long-term strategic relationships with key clients and customers to achieve business objectives
  • Manage and develop a high-performing dedicated team and an effective organization structure
  • Recommend process improvement opportunities and execute changes
  • Identify talents in organization, define and support a personal development plan, and create succession plans for mission-critical roles
  • Support the Managing Director on various projects as assigned

 

Functional Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of the TEC industry/market/competitors/customers
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and a proven business management and sales track record in assigned products/services/systems and an existing network of contacts
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements of products within assigned territories, including handling procedures, shelf life, storage, etc.
  • Demonstrate advanced negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate advanced research and analytical skills
  • Strong people skills and communication skills are a must. The role needs to cultivate a talent pipeline and develop talent
  • Demonstrate fluency in English, both in written and spoken as well as the local language required

 

Education & Work Experience

  • Degree in Business Studies/Marketing
  • Master's in Business Administration is preferred
  • Other qualifications related to the technical know-how work area (e.g. engineering, chemical, medical devices, etc.) will be considered
  • 10 years of relevant experience 
  • At least 5 years in Senior Management role with P&L responsibilities
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Scientific Solutions (Laboratories) industry, products, services, competitors, and regulatory environment.
