About The Role
The Area Sales Manager is accountable for achieving sales targets across assigned businesses, territories, and accounts, with full responsibility for cost management and new business development. This role plays a key part in driving DKSH's growth within the Consumer Goods sector by building strong customer and supplier relationships and developing strategic commercial initiatives.
What You Will Deliver
- Own full Profit and Loss (P&L) accountability for assigned products or territory, including budget planning and results delivery.
- Engage new and existing customers through regular visits (with up to 60% travel) to build lasting relationships and negotiate sales agreements.
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with suppliers, buyers, and senior buyers through joint visits and structured reporting to support mutual business growth.
- Lead negotiations and close deals with customers, ensuring commercially sound and mutually beneficial outcomes
- Monitor costs and provide recommendations on pricing, discounts, and contract terms to achieve targeted marginsIdentify and develop potential market opportunities in coordination with other DKSH business teams
- Proactively scout new business opportunities through strategic product portfolio development and managementIdentify product gaps and improvement opportunities based on lost sales data and customer feedback
- Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to achieve assigned sales targets
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, market reports, and regular competitor and market surveys to support business visibility and decision-making
- Manage sales reporting and projected sales and margin forecasts, proposing areas for customer base expansion based on market knowledge
- Resolve customer issues effectively and recommend preventive actions to minimize future incidents
- Administrative duties and coordination tasks as required.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, market dynamics, competitors, and customers
- Proven sales track record in assigned products, with an established network within the industry
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to products within assigned territories, including handling procedures, shelf life, and storage
- Advanced research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable commercial insights
- Proficiency in office productivity tools including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointFluency in the local language; proficiency in English is an advantage.
