Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Specialist

We are seeking a proactive HSEQ Specialist for this pivotal role to support our HSEQ initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity where you’ll collaborate with the HSEQ Manager to ensure a safe and compliant work environment, promote health and safety best practices, and maintain quality management systems across our operations.

We are looking for a motivated candidate for this junior role who is wanting to take their Health & Safety career to the next level.

This role will be based out of our Ellerslie office, with travel across our other Auckland sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety: Advise business units on HSEQ best practices, coordinate training, and manage risk assessments
  • Incident Management: Investigate incidents and near misses, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Quality Assurance: Support ISO certifications, ensure compliance with quality systems, and maintain necessary certifications
  • Compliance & Reporting: Assist with HSEQ audits, reporting, and documentation, ensuring adherence to legal and internal standards
  • Cultural Leadership: Promote a strong safety culture across all teams and ensure emergency procedures and training are up to date

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years proven experience in health and safety, with an understanding of H&S legislation. Knowledge of quality management systems e.g. ISO 9001 would be advantageous. Experience within a distribution centre and/or laboratory environment is highly desirable
  • Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Qualifications: Health and Safety certification. Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety are advantageous
  • Attributes: Self-motivated, methodical, and able to work independently with sound judgment
