Business Development Manager – Consumer Goods (FMCG)

We are seeking a highenergy, commercially driven Business Development Manager to accelerate growth across our Consumer Goods portfolio in New Zealand. This is a true hunter role, focused on winning new business and driving sustainable growth.

In this role you will be accountable for identifying, converting and onboarding new FMCG clients and brands, while growing a diverse portfolio across multiple categories. You will lead complex pitches and negotiations, manage multiple opportunities simultaneously, and ensure all new business delivers longterm value to the Consumer Goods P&L.

What you’ll be doing:

Business Development, Planning & Strategy

  • Identify and secure new FMCG clients and brands through proactive, hunterled business development
  • Own the endtoend new business process — from lead generation and pitch through negotiation, onboarding and launch
  • Manage and grow multiple brands and categories concurrently, balancing priorities and resources
  • Conduct market research and commercial analysis to assess opportunity viability and prioritisation

Commercial & Financial Performance

  • Structure new business opportunities to deliver commercial returns to the FMCG P&L
  • Lead commercial negotiations and manage the contract lifecycle
  • Deliver annual financial targets including NSV, incremental EBIT and RONOC
  • Provide accurate forecasting and manage A&P and related spend within agreed parameters

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong seniorlevel relationships with new and existing FMCG clients
  • Align internal stakeholders to ensure seamless onboarding and execution across brands and categories

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven FMCG business development experience with a demonstrated track record of securing new brands or clients
  • Strong understanding of FMCG routetomarket models and sales processes in New Zealand
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and deliver results across multiple brands and categories
  • Strong commercial and P&L acumen, with experience evaluating opportunities and closing deals
  • Experience using FMCG data and insights (e.g. Nielsen, Aztec) to support decisionmaking
  • Strong influencing, negotiating and stakeholder management capability, with confidence operating at senior levels
